CHARITIES and canny shoppers alike can cash in on a new discount booklet offering savings at businesses across Hounslow.

The Peel2Save Hounslow card, launched last Tuesday (November 15), contains 64 money-saving coupons for everything from a curry to a check-up for your car.

The pocket-sized booklet, sponsored by delivery company Giovaruscio C Transport Ltd, costs £10 and contains more than £500 worth of savings.

Charities, schools and clubs across the borough can bring in some vital cash by selling the cards and keeping half the cost.

The initiative has already proved a hit in towns up and down the country, providing a much-needed boost to struggling businesses and cash-strapped consumers.

Gemma Davies, who is helping to run the scheme, said: "It's a bit like buying a strip of raffle tickets and winning all the prizes every time.

"We thought it was an easy way for people to give something back to their community at a time when everyone is feeling the pinch."

As well as being sold by voluntary groups, the cards will also be available from The Optical Shop and Beauty 4 You, in Hounslow High Street, and Airlinks Golf club, in Southall Lane, Hounslow.

Offers range from a free family day at the David Lloyd fitness centre in Heston to £40 off special lenses for senior citizens at Optical Shop.

Any non-profit organisations interested in selling the cards can email: gemdavies@blueyonder.co.uk.
