I HAVE just seen, with some horror, the newly painted double yellow lines on the corners of some of the streets in West Harrow.

These lines, in my view, are ridiculously over the top and impose greater restrictions on parking than in other parts of Harrow. There are, for example, single yellow lines in similar places nearby, with weekday restrictions only.

Councillor Susan Hall has shown a totally patronising attitude to residents in her relentless campaign to impose a CPZ and yellow lines scheme on the overwhelming majority of West Harrow residents who opposed it. Her attitude, in meeting after meeting, is one of 'we know what is best for you'.

I really hope the council's intention is not to squeeze the available parking so that West Harrow residents who opposed the scheme so vigorously are reluctantly forced to request its extension.

We would then be led to think that there is a greater financial motive behind the Council's drive to impose CPZs and double yellow lines on our quiet suburban neighbourhood.

The current local councillors 'representing' West Harrow should think carefully if they are to retain their seats here in the forthcoming council elections.
