THERE was a sense of relief in Harrow's communities that the English Defence League (EDL) had withdrawn its threat of demonstration outside the Harrow Civic Centre.

But the relief has now been replaced with outrage due to the announcement of a planned visit by Pastor Terry Jones to attend an EDL event in February.

The Koran-hating pastor is due to speak against 'the evils and destructiveness of Islam' and 'the fight against the Islamification of England and Europe'.

There is the strongest possible case for banning the pastor and I urge the Home Secretary Theresa May to ban this visit at once.

An online petition by Hope Not Hate Campaign gives us an opportunity to express clear distaste for the proposed visit and I'd urge all our communities to sign the petition by visiting www.hopenothate. org.uk.
