FAMILIES across Harrow and Brent are gearing up for a summery celebration in red, white and blue for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee weekend.

Thousands of citizens in north-west London will be enjoying street parties, picnics and pubs to mark the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty’s coronation.

Organisers are stocking up on barbecue food, drinks and bunting for lots of smaller school and neighbourhood events, but there are also a select few larger gatherings to which the public are invited.

SATURDAY, JUNE 2

l St Ann’s Shopping Centre, St Ann’s Road, Harrow – children’s ‘Everyone’s a Windsor’ Treasure Hunt lead by a Beefeater, noon-3pm.

l Bentley Neighbourhood Resource Centre, Uxbridge Road, Harrow Weald – Harrow Asian Deaf Club party between 2pm and 9.30pm with barbecue, fancy dress, games, guest speakers and entertainment including Bollywood and belly dancing.

l The Windsock Club, Eastcote Avenue, South Harrow – Retro indoor The Windsock Club Party with food, drinks and entertainment from 2.45pm to 6pm.

l Earlsmead Stadium, Carlyon Avenue, South Harrow – Harrow Borough FC’s street party from 3pm with stalls and tombola.

SUNDAY, JUNE 3

l West Harrow Recreation Ground, Wilson Gardens, West Harrow – Big Picnic 12.30-3pm with face painting, a craft tent and bouncy castle organised by the Friends of West Harrow Park and St Peter’s Church.

l Harrow Recreation Ground, Hindes Road, Harrow – Big Picnic, concert of festive music by Harrow Concert Band 1.30-3.30pm, Harrow Bowls Club open day 10am-5pm, Three Bridges Cricket Club 20/20 matches at 10am and 2pm.

l Wembley Arena Square, Engineers Way, Wembley – Brent Council’s ‘Brent Celebrates The Diamond Jubilee’ event from noon to 4pm with a crowd of up to 3,000 expected to enjoy a costume competition, fitness challenges, food tents, dance and performance shows.

MONDAY, JUNE 4

l The Broadway, Hatch End – Hatch End Trade Association event from 3pm to 6pm with karaoke, choirs, Zumba, horse and carriage rides, dance displays, stalls and circus skills.

l Pinner Memorial Park, Chapel Lane, Pinner – Big jazz picnic event with jazz bands, rock chorus and kids entertainment between noon to 4pm

TUESDAY, JUNE 5

l Barham Park, Harrow Road, Sudbury – from 11am Sudbury Town Residents’ Association’s Diamond Jubilee in the Park event with music, Bollywood dancers, fairground rides and grand parade at noon from St Georges’ Church.
