RESTRICTIONS have been put in place banning people from parking in their own roads during a firework display.

Residents and even Blue Badge holders are not allowed to park in certain roads around Ruislip Rugby Club in West End Road, during the display tomorrow (Wednesday).

The drivers were only informed of the restrictions when the rugby club posted a leaflet through their doors on yesterday (Monday) night.

Steve Adderley, 47, of Eversley Crescent, Ruislip, said: "Any residents who are disabled are expected to make other arrangements with 40 hours notice. It could actually cause them discomfort and one of my neighbours is quite upset.

"I think it's outrageous really.

"There hasn't been anything from the council asking residents if there has been a problem with parking in the past. There's been people parking here and walking up to the club to see the display before and I have not had a problem with it."

Chris Norman, head of business services, said: "Following a request from the police, Hillingdon Council arranged a temporary traffic order to restrict parking to protect the general public and reduce congestion.

"The restricted area will be coned off to alert drivers of parking changes.

"The rugby club agreed with the council that they would display the public notices we provided them with last week. We also advised them to deliver information to all residents in these roads as soon as possible to ensure they were aware of the restrictions."

The restrictions will be in place from 6pm to 9.30pm in Pond Green, Wood Lane, Eversley Crescent, and West End Road.
