A PARALYMPIC basketball star has been reunited with his wheelchair after it was snatched along with his specially adapted car.

Ade Adepitan, 38, who lives in East London, competed for Britain in the Paralympics in 2004 and was visiting his girlfriend in Merton Avenue in Chiswick when two male thieves broke into his white BMW X5 before driving away.

The incident happened at about 4am last Saturday (October 22).

Mr Adepitan, who gained an MBE for his contribution to disability sports, took to Twitter to appeal for sightings of both his car and wheelchair.

He said: "I really want to get my wheelchair back as its very difficult for me to play basketball without it, they are bespoke and made to fit the individual."

He later announced that his car had been found on Monday (October 31) before discovering that his chair and some of his sports kit had been dumped behind flats in Acton Top in North London.

A spokesperson for Mr Adepitan was unavailable for comment.
