Two burglars nabbed after a pensioner alerted police to intruders in her Hanwell home have dodged prison.

Pitor Kwasniewski and Krzyzstof Adam received a 12-month community order and were told to carry out 170 hours unpaid work after admitting to breaking into the home in Boston Road on May 29.

A 67-year-old woman was at home when she heard noises coming from her garden at around 12.45am.

She looked out of her window and saw a man holding a torch, and watched him until she thought he had gone.

A while later she heard another noise and looked out to see a second man walk towards her back door.

Police were called to the address and found both suspects in the basement.

The men, both from Hanwell, were arrested on suspicion of burglary and admitted the charge at a court hearing on June 30.

Kwasniewski, 31 and from Osterley Park View Road, and his 30-year-old accomplice from Cumberland Road, were sentenced at Harrow Crown Court on Monday (July 28).

DC Keran Tailor from Ealing Burglary Squad said: “The offence of burglary has a painful and long lasting effect on its victims. Local residents can be assured that we are committed to investigating all burglaries and bringing those responsible before the courts.”

The pair were also told to pay Crown Prosecution Costs of £150 each.
