Two men have been charged after a kilogram of cocaine was thrown out of a car window during a high-speed chase.

National Crime Agency (NCA) and Met Police officers tried to pull over a white Ford Connect van in Warwick Square, Pimlico, on Wednesday (January 7) afternoon but the driver sped off so police pursued it.

They managed to stop the van in Greencoat Place and arrested one man, then arrested another in nearby Denbigh Street.

During the pursuit police believe a package was thrown out of the van, which they later recovered and found to be a one kilogram block of cocaine.

They then searched an address in Bird Lane, Upminster, where officers recovered a further five kilograms of cocaine, a handgun, nine rounds of ammunition, about £100,000 in cash, a CS gas canister, cutting agents, a hydraulic press and drug packaging equipment.

Abdimislam Abdi, 38, of Erasmus Street, Pimlico, was charged with being concerned in the supply of cocaine.

Jamie Williams, 37, of Amery Gardens, Romford, was charged with being concerned in the supply of cocaine, possession of a firearm and money laundering.

Both men appeared before Westminster Magistrates Court on Friday (January 9) and were remanded in custody until their next appearance at the Old Bailey on January 19.

The pair were arrested under the Middle Market Drugs Partnerships, which brings together officers from the NCA - the UK’s FBI - and the Met Police to protect the communities of London from the harms inflicted by drug dealing.
