IN THIS day and age of high competition and cut throat markets which are often served by retail staff with a distinct lack of product knowledge, enthusiasm and general customer service skills, I would like to commend Ruislip Appliances in Ruislip Manor for their outstanding attitude and level of customer service.

I bought a brand new Siemens washing machine on February 17.

They swiftly delivered my purchase on the same day via two cheerful men.

Unfortunately, after three days of use it developed a fault.

On February 21 I telephoned them at 8.45am to register my complaint, which was dealt with by Mick who was very polite and helpful.

He assured me he would call back as soon as the boss arrived at around 9am.

At 9.10am he did call me back to offer me an alternative brand new machine or my money back.

I obviously chose to have a new machine, which was promptly delivered by 11.30am and the faulty one taken away.

Customer service 'with a smile' doesn't come much better than that.

Strangely, a couple of months ago my daughter had a similar problem with Currys.

After many phone calls and 10 days later she too received a new washing machine.

I am all for supporting small high street businesses and I'm so very glad that I chose Ruislip Appliances.
