An outrageous art exhibition has come to town.

Called Outrageous by its creators, Okra Textiles, it is on display now at the Cow Byre Gallery, Ruislip.

Okra Textiles is comprised of artists who exhibit artwork using textiles and other media both individually and as a group.

Samantha Harvey and Judy Drysdale are part of it.

“It’s all textile art, but the Outrageous theme doesn’t mean it’s lewd,” said Ms Harvey, adding that the theme had been interpreted in different ways.

Her work is inspired by where we get our food and the consequences that can have, such as dolphins getting caught in fishing nets.

“One artist has created creatures called Hengrels and is really interested in how we manipulate our bodies,” she said.

“Judy is looking at the outrageous fashion of corsetry when it was all very constricting.

“All the pieces are different, some of it is political. Some of it is more about life,” she said.

The exhibition started on Sunday and runs until September 15.

Armelle Goulier, Debbie Goddard, Dee Thomas, Helen Colling, Julie Mallett, Lynne Truex, Naomi Beevers and Trish Vickers are the other artists displaying their work at the gallery every day from 10am to 4pm.
