I am writing to you regarding the Feltham People's Centre, which is being proposed for Feltham High Street.

It is obvious the architects for this building have no concept of the meaning of a conservation area and the appearance of a building that would be appropriate for such an area.

The appearance of this building is totally unacceptable for this site. It is typical of a factory site. In fact, there are more attractive buildings on the factory site opposite Leisure West than this one.

PPG 15 Planning & Historic Environment provide advice on planning (Listed Buildings & Conservation Area) which states, under section 72, that special attention shall be paid to the desirability of preserving or enhancing the character or appearance of a conservation area.

We feel the front of this proposed building neither preserves nor enhances the character of a conservation area.

To the left hand side is the historic St Catherine's Church and on the other side is Chapel Square, red brick with balconies.

Nowhere in this conservation area is there a flat-fronted building of this type and we feel this 'Legoland' facade is totally inappropriate in this conservation area.
