An engraged driver who slashed a policeman's face during a road rage incident in Osterley has been jailed for five years.

Father-of-one, Faisal Mohammad, 30, of Sussex Road, Southall, denied wounding PC Shuaib Gafur and causing him grievous bodily harm on March 25 but has been found guilty at Isleworth Crown Court on Tuesday and jailed for five years.

The two men got into a fight after PC Gafur, 25, confronted Mohammad at Tesco petrol station, in Syon Lane, over his poor driving.

The officer was taken to West Middlesex Hospital and treated with 30 stitches for injuries to his face, shoulder and back and Mohammad fled the scene.

He was traced by his blue transit van and eventually gave himself up but claimed he had acted in self-defence.

Det Insp Jeff Minns, of Hounslow CID, today said: "This was a serious assault on the victim who will have the scars for the rest of his life. Mohammad chose to pull a knife on his victim, inflicting serious injuries and for that he is being held accountable."
