OFFICERS arrested more than 40 people during a one-day blitz on drug dealing in Harrow and Brent.

Search warrants were carried out across the boroughs on Wednesday, March 27 as part of Operation Hawk, the Met Police’s ongoing city-wide crackdown, fuelled by tip-offs from the public.

In Harrow, officers executed 20 drug warrants and two alleged cannabis farms were shut down, while 11 arrests were made for offences such as possession of cannabis and possession of heroin with intent to supply, as well as money laundering and fraud.

Police also seized what they believed to be controlled drugs and equipment together with money under their Proceeds of Crime Act powers.

Harrow’s Acting Borough Commander, Ben Honey, said: “Drug dealing and growing cannabis attracts organised crime, violent crime and anti-social behaviour to your community.

“This operation sends a message out that we will not tolerate this, or any other type of criminality within Harrow.”

In Brent, officers executed 43 warrants the same day and made 31 arrests for possession with intent to supply cannabis, possession of cannabis, cultivation of cannabis, possession of class A drugs, possession with intent to supply class A drugs, possession of firearms, handling stolen goods and breach of bail.

Two alleged cannabis factories were closed and 100 rocks of suspected crack seized. Police also found what they believe to be 12 stolen phones from two addresses, along with five blocked phones seized and two shotguns recovered.

In Hillview Close, Wembley, officers searched a premises and found an incubator with suspected baby cannabis plants and hydroponics set up with about 50 full grown cannabis plants and cannabis plant stems with dried out cannabis leaves.

No suspects were on the scene and no arrests made. Enquiries continue.

Since September last year, Operation Hawk has continued daily across the capital, with more than 6,000 warrants executed, including 4,700 drugs warrants and more than 240 cannabis factories closed.
