AN EARLY years centre has been deemed outstanding by a recent report.

Stanmore Park Children's Centre, in William Drive, Stanmore, was praised in a report by Ofsted following an inspection in March.

Inspector Julie Biddle said: "Children flourish at this setting, they have great fun, are well cared for and they achieve very well because staff have a thorough understanding of how children learn.

"The setting meets the needs of the children for whom it provides."

The organisation, which is supported by Harrow Council, offers day care to 34 children.

The centre was deemed outstanding in helping to keep children healthy and helping them enjoy what they do.

Staff were described as enthusiastic and skilled are recognising children who needed encouragement,

Deputy head Gemma Williams said: "We are all extremely proud to have been recognised by Ofsted as outstanding. This is a huge achievement. We will continue to provide a high standard of care and education to children and their families in the community."

Councillor Anjana Patel (Conservative), portfolio holder for schools and children's development said: "It is a great achievement to be classed 'outstanding'by Ofsted and we are pleased that the hard-work from the staff and parents has been recognised."
