Parents and children cuddled up with a good book as schools and nurseries around the borough marked National Storytelling Week.

Ray’s Playhouse, in Fulham, holds storytelling sessions for children under five years old every Tuesday for £3 per family.

It also runs Read and Relax, a free reading group aimed at children aged three to eight, which is sponsored by Thomas’s London Day Schools.

Parents and children can pick up books and improve their reading from 3.30pm to 4.30pm every Wednesday during term time.

Work begins later this month to build a new outdoor play area at the not-for-profit children’s centre in Stephendale Road, Sands End.

Parents and staff helped raise £55,000 last year to replace the weathered climbing frame and are helping to raise a further £25,000 for water play equipment.
