CHILDREN from Harrow donned homemade crowns as they got their jubilee celebrations well under way on Friday morning, writes Paul Wright.

Youngsters from North Harrow Nursery in Gloucester Road, North Harrow, were treated to a full day of fun as they joined others around the country in celebrating the Queen’s 60-year reign.

Themed party games, picnics and a bouncy castle kept the children entertained and in the mood for what was going to be a long weekend of celebrations.

“The day was a wonderful success,” said nursery manager Lisa Orbell. “The kids got to learn all about the Queen and had so much fun at the same time.

“Even the parents couldn’t help getting involved.”

After learning about the royal family and diamond jubilee, children showcased their work in the nursery’s British-themed exhibition.

Models of Buckingham Palace and bright red London buses were joined by pictures of things that made the youngsters proud to be British, such as cups of tea and fish and chips.
