The streets of W10 will be alive with vibrant music and colourful dancing for the Notting Hill Carnival 2017 .
Taking place over the Bank Holiday weekend, the parade is a free celebration of Caribbean culture.
At 3pm on both Sunday and Monday, revellers will pause to remember the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire.

Mixed emotions
As tributes were paid to victims of Grenfell Tower at the world-famous Notting Hill Carnival, revellers experienced mixed emotions.
Today’s events run until 8.30pm - and festivities start again at 9am tomorrow morning.
Mayor of London tells revellers to 'be safe'
On his official Facebook page, Mayor of London Sadiq Khan described the Notting Hill Carnival as a “unifying and positive force in this city”.
The Mayor continued: “I was honoured to take part in the opening ceremony this morning, which started the world-famous carnival parade, and to remember all those affected by the devastating fire at Grenfell Tower which has left a tight-knit community in sorrow and mourning.
“The families of those who tragically lost their lives – many of whom are here today - made it clear they want to use this occasion as a way for people to support the community and to come together, honour, and celebrate the lives of their loved ones and that is exactly what we did today.”
As the festival will be busy tomorrow (August 28), Mr Khan advised those attending to go early and plan their journeys in advance.
He added: “Be safe and most importantly, have a wonderful time.”

Campaign against facial recognition technology
A UK-based human rights organisation is campaigning against the use of facial recognition technology at Notting Hill Carnival.
Facial recognition uses biometric software to create maps of people’s facial characteristics.
According to the organisation, the Metropolitan Police is using the software to scan the faces of thousands of festival goers.
They have called on the Met to scrap the plans.
Minute's silence at 3pm
Victims of Grenfell Tower tragedy will be remembered with a minute’s silence at Notting Hill Carnival.
Today (August 27) festival goers will fall silent at 3pm.
And on the second day (August 28) of the west London event, another minute’s silence will be held at the same time.

Road closures
There will be major road closures in west London from 2am on Sunday (August 27) until 5am on Tuesday (August 29).
Motorists are advised to avoid parts of west London listed here, or allow extra time for their journey.
J'ouvert!
Here’s a picture of a paint-covered reveller taking part in the “J’ouvert” opening parade of the Notting Hill Carnival. But what’s this tradition all about?
“J’ouvert” is an important part of Caribbean carnivals. In Trinidad and Tobago, where the tradition is still followed, participants cover their body in mud, and celebrate the start of the carnival.
Nowadays, many variants of the J’ouvert exist. Mud is being replaced with paint, powder, and even chocolate.
Dozens of ambulances 'ready' for carnival

Some have criticised the decision to hold this year’s festival. PCC for Lincolnshire, Marc Jones, said on Twitter: “I can’t process logic of holding an event with this level of risk to public.”

Doves released at Notting Hill Carnival
During the festival’s opening ceremony, dozens of doves, which are often used to symbolise peace, were released by Grenfell Tower survivors.
Met Police seizes a kilo of cocaine
Met Police officers have seized one kilo one “uncut cocaine” in Catford as part of their festival operation.
But Twitter users are not happy with the Met’s use of the hashtag #NottingHillCarnival. One user said: “Catford is about 12 miles away from Notting Hill, in a different borough and takes about an hour to get to on the tube? So the link is?”
The Met Police hasn’t responded to the tweets yet.
Green for Grenfell
Notting Hill Carnival started earlier this morning in honour of those affected by the Grenfell Tower tragedy.
Survivors are asking festival goers to wear green in solidarity.
