Ibrahim Fahmi of Northwood School scooped top prize in the Hillingdon regional final of the Jack Petchey foundation 'Speak Out' challenge.

The regional final was held at Northwood School on Tuesday.

Ibrahim impressed the judges with his winning speech, 'Do you want it?', fighting off stiff competition from 15 other young speakers from schools in the area.

“In my speech, I said that if you want something enough, you can get it," said Ibrahim, pictured here with the mayor of Hillingdon, Councillor Allan Kauffman.

"I really wanted this but I couldn’t have done it without the support of my teachers and family.”

Eighteen schools in the borough took part in the competition, which involved more than 700 year 10 students who all received a full day of training in public speaking and effective communication.

Ibrahim won a £100 gift certificate for coming first and a chance to go through to the grand final of the Speak Out challenge in July next year.
