A NORTHWOOD charity is £15,000 richer thanks to donations from people in a neighbouring county.

Charity Herts Against Cancer held a preview event on September 6 at its new charity shop in St Albans, Hertfordshire, during which a cheque was given to the chief executive of the Paul Strickland Scanner Centre, based on the Mount Vernon Hospital Site in Rickmansworth Road,

The money was gathered from individuals and organisations around Hertfordshire and another £15,000 was handed to the Mount Vernon Cancer Network – an organisation made up of various NHS trusts in Hertfordshire.

The money will enable The Paul Strickland Centre to keep providing scanners, which can help to detect the disease and the Cancer Network will use it to make a training videos for GPs about early detection.

Herts Against Cancer raises awareness and fundraises for cancer-fighting charities.
