A THUG who was jailed for an unprovoked stabbing has lost his bid to have his sentence reduced.
Lee Wood, 20, of Halsbury Road, Northolt, was sentenced to six and a half years in custody after admitting wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm at Winchester Crown Court in October.
Wood and another man accosted James Siddall, of Basingstoke, as he walked in an alleyway in the early hours of April 1. Mr Siddall, who had been minding his own business, was punched by both men. He was then grabbed by the second man and pinned in a headlock while Wood stabbed him in the back of the leg.
Wood was arrested and identified by his victim, and the blood-stained weapon was later found at his home. He has two previous offences of battery as a juvenile, which the judge said showed he had a propensity for violence.
Three senior judges sitting at the Court of Appeal last Tuesday(MAR 1) rejected Wood's bid for a reduced term, ruling that he deserved every day of the sentence.
Mr Justice Kenneth Parker said: "This was a wholly unprovoked attack, the motive for which still remains unexplained. Those who carry a knife and use it to inflict injury will be dealt with severely."
