A PREDATORY public transport pervert sexually assaulted two women while they were asleep on night buses.

Mohammed Dakwar, 24, of no fixed address, was sentenced to a total of 18 months’ imprisonment at Harrow Crown Court on Thursday May 15 after admitting two counts of sexual assault and one of theft.

He was given a five-year Sexual Offences Prevention Order and must sign the Sex Offenders Register for 10.

He first struck on February 2 at around 2am when the 29-year-old victim was on board a Sudbury-bound route N18 night bus travelling along Northumberland Road, North Harrow.

A Metropolitan Police statement said: “She awoke to find Dakwar with his arm around her, rubbing her hair whilst attempting to kiss her.

“He then pulled her up onto his knee where he continued to try and kiss her.

“She sought help from the bus driver and Dakwar fled the scene.

“She later found that her iPhone was missing from her jacket pocket.”

Dakwar’s second vicim was a 34-year-old attack occurred at about 2am on March 23 aboard a 220 bus driving along Harrow Road in Harlesden destined for Willesden Junction Station on which his 34-year-old victim was heading home.

The police statement said: “She was asleep whilst Dakwar was rubbing her thigh, breast, and stomach and when she awoke he attempted to force his tongue into her mouth.

“She challenged him and she then ran off the bus.”

Images from security cameras from the buses helped to identify Dakwar.

He admitted the offences at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on April 3 and was committed for sentence to the crown court.

He received eight months’ imprisonment for the first sexual assault, four months’ jail to run concurrently for theft and a further 10 months imprisonment to run consecutively for the second sexual assault.

He was prosecuted as part of Project Guardian - a multi agency initiative involving British Transport Police, the Metropolitan Police’s Safer Transport Command, City of London Police and Transport for London (TfL).

TfL’s deputy director of enforcement and on-street operations, Siwan Hayward, said: “We are absolutely determined to eliminate all sexual offences from our transport network, so I am pleased this sex offender has been jailed and put on the Sex Offenders Register for his predatory and disgusting crimes.”
