More than 850 visitors made their way to Brent Town Hall to find out about job opportunities from a whole range of employers.

The Jobs and Careers Wembley event last Thursday was sponsored by nextstep, the service that provides face-to-face learning and careers advice for adults, and is supported by the Harrow Observer series.

Companies showcased a range of jobs and several organisations provided careers advice.

Kevin Pearce, of nextstep, said: "Jobs and careers events are an excellent opportunity to promote nextstep and provide advice to a wide range of customers. Our advisors were busy all day, meeting and helping lots of people with help and advice on how to improve their skills, their jobs and their lives.

"Many of the people we met at Jobs and Careers Wembley were unaware of our services, and would not normally visit one of our centres."

Other exhibitors at the event included the RAF, Marsden Group, Phillips Collection Services, Access Self Storage and many more.

Hillcroft College, which caters solely for women, found the event a very positive experience. Vina Owen, of the college, said: "We had significant interest in the college; we will follow up all the enquiries in the next few days."

Myles Bigland, of ILEX, a body that represents qualified and trainee legal executives, was also very pleased to have an opportunity to meet people face to face.

He said: "Jobs and careers events get the right focus for us to explain to visitors the key advantages of choosing our vocational route into the law."
