A DREAM wedding in New York City was the ultimate Christmas present for TV presenter Angellica Bell.
It was a white wedding in more ways than one as Angellica and her husband Michael Underwood tied the knot on December 27 in the snow-covered metropolis.
The pair were married at a spontaneous ceremony in at The Trump Hotel in SoHo, Manhattan, a year after they had gotten engaged in the same city on Christmas Eve.
Angellica, who grew up in Ealing and lives in Kingston-upon-Thames said: “It was amazing. We couldn't have asked for a more idyllic setting as it had just been snowing and New York was covered with the stuff. We were married by a chaplain in the penthouse at the hotel and then went outside to get some pictures taken, which was obviously very cold.”
The pair then dined out at a nearby restaurant before returning to the UK on December 29. The wedding came as a surprise to several people, including Angellica's father Julian Bell, who is also leader of Ealing Council.
He said: “I am delighted for Angellica and Michael. They make a great couple and this was a very romantic way to get married, in New York with Christmas snow. I fully support their decision to get married privately on their own terms away from any media glare.
“They love each other and are committed to a life together, so I and the rest of the family fully support and congratulate them on this happy occasion. Obviously we would have loved to have been there with them but that was not possible and we are now looking forward to a wedding celebration in the UK with family and friends."
