PLANS for a new neighbourhood in Wembley have been submitted to Brent Council .

The proposals include a new shopping street running parallel with Olympic Way, improvements to Olympic Way, a new park, 1,300 homes, a hotel and offices.

A pedestrianised shopping street will run from Engineers Way to Fulton Road offering a range of new shops.

Quintain Estates and Development plc submitted the application which will cover 14 acres of land.

Some changes have been made following a public consultation throughout the summer.

Speaking about the submission, Nick Shattock, Quintain’s deputy chief executive, said: “We are pleased with the overwhelmingly positive response we received during our public consultation.

"Since then we have been carefully considering the feedback we received and incorporating many people’s suggestions to shape the final scheme which we have now submitted to Brent Council.

“We want to boost Wembley’s appeal and create a thriving new quarter, with a new High Street to complement Wembley High Road and a new community park at the heart of the district.

"Olympic Way itself will also be transformed from an empty space into a grand, ceremonial route lined with trees and open spaces creating a variety of different areas for people to enjoy."
