I READ DA Davies' letter regarding the suggestion to build a new hospital on the soon-to-be-vacated RAF site in Uxbridge and Ray Puddifoot's quote in Dan Coombs' articles regarding a legal challenge to the third runway.

This read: "The number of organisations backing this challenge is unprecedented.

"It shows that just about everyone other than Geoff Hoon thinks the Goverment has got this wrong."

I would suggest the the same remarks apply to David McVittie of Hillingdon Hospital and council leader Ray Puddifoot as it is obvious that the majority of the people of Hillingdon want a new hospital built on the RAF site, not more cafés, retail outlets, a theatre, houses etc.

However, Messrs McVittie and Puddifoot seem to be in complete denial of the people's wishes.

I challenge them to ask the people. DAVID SEAMAN,
