A talking newspaper for the blind has moved location after 18 years at its Stanmore home.

The Harrow Talking Newspaper has moved from Anmer Lodge to a new studio at Central Depot, in Forward Drive,Wealdstone.

The newspaper, which has near-ly 200 listeners has been providing news for the blind for more than 33 years.

Chairman Barbara Turner said: "We were very sorry to leave our Anmer Lodge site, since over the years we'd built a very well equipped studio."

A £2,000 grant from the Edward Harvist Trust helped fund the move as well as voluntary contributions. The group was forced to move because of Harrow Council's development plans.

Harrow Talking Newspaper uses the Observer to compile a 60-minute audio tape of local news each week.

The tapes are posted out and returned for free to blind and visually impaired people in the borough.

The organisation also produces a bi-monthly magazine tape, Hear-Abouts.
