VULNERABLE residents can now benefit from advice on keeping their homes warm after Harrow Council secured a government grant of nearly s70,000.

The Harrow Housewarmers campaign will help people living in cold homes or those in need of support with fuel debt, benefits advice and free insulation using s68,500 from the Department of Healths Warm Home Healthy People Fund.

The portfolio holder for adult social care, health and wellbeing, Councillor Margaret Davine, said: This is a welcome boost to the work being done in Harrow which will benefit 500 of Harrows most isolated and vulnerable residents.

They include vulnerable older people suffering from illnesses and chronic medical conditions, severe mental illness, dementia, arthritis, limited mobility, families with young children, homeless and the fuel poor.

The scheme was launched on Monday as part of Big Energy Week.

Harrow Council leader Bill Stephenson said: I was truly delighted to learn that working together with our partners we have been successful in obtaining this grant.

It is wonderful to have this project can I say even heartwarming.
