THE manager of a sports venue is running a half marathon for a cancer charity.

Andrew Thompson, who runs Goals Wembley, in Alperton, is raising money for Prostate Cancer UK by taking part in The Royal Parks Half Marathon on Sunday, October 6.

He will have a chance to warm up at the Men United Cup, a regional five-a-side tournament at Goals Wembley this Sunday from 4pm, which is also in aid of charity.

The 27-year-old only recently decided to take part in the 13.1-mile challenge and has stepped up his training.

“I have done the Great North Run, but that was four years ago. I used to be very fit back when I played football, but this has given me a new goal to aim towards,” said Mr Thompson.

“Prostate Cancer UK is one of the less-publicised charities, in my opinion, and it is very relevant in and around the demographic I work with and the customers at Goals Wembley. We will continue to support the charity at the Men United Cup in September, in partnership with talkSPORT.”
