New free school pledges 'private school ethos' to inner city

A NEW secondary school which will open next year is hosting an open evening for parents.

A NEW secondary school which will open next year is hosting an open evening for parents.

Michaela Community School, in Arena House, North End Road, Wembley, will open in September 2014, and is currently welcoming applications for year seven pupils.

Michaela Community School will be a non-denominational, 11 to 18, mixed free school that promises to bring a private school ethos to the inner city.

Head teacher Katharine Birbalsingh (pictured) said: “Our education will be academically rigorous. We will expect our pupils to be polite and obedient. We will encourage competition and allow our pupils to win and lose.”

The open evening is on Monday, September 30, at The Learning Zone, Wembley Stadium, and time slots are available from 4.15pm to 5.15pm, 5.45pm to 6.45pm and 7.15pm to 8.15pm.
