PAUL Stone is the new chairman of Harefield Tenants’ and Residents’ Association, following its annual meeting last week.

Mr Stone, previously vice-chairman, takes over the role from long-running chairwoman Pauline Crawley, who is stepping down because of ill health.

Mr Stone paid tribute to Mrs Crawley’s leadership at the meeting at Harefield Library. She was at the helm for about 13 years and will continue supporting the association, he told gathered members.

Wendy Rice-Morley, who plays an active role in the organisation, will become vice-chairman.

The meeting upheld the annual tradition of a guest speaker.

A representative from charity RAFT – Restoration of Appearance and Function Trust – which is based at the Mount Vernon Hospital in Rickmansworth Road, Northwood, gave a talk about its work.

The charity researches practical and affordable ways to save and repair skin, and its studies have been used to help people with burns, wounds and cancer. It relies solely on donations and grants.

Members were invited to attend a public open day RAFT is holding on May 2, between 6.30pm and 8.30pm.
