Stroke survivors in Uxbridge are invited to have a drink at a new monthly cafe session.

Staff at the borough branch of Stroke Association set up the drop-in cafe initiative to welcome survivors and their families.

Jacqui Guyett, communication support coordinator from Stroke Association Uxbridge, said: “We wanted a dedicated day to embrace power of peer to peer support through the local stroke survivors and families talking to one another.

“Stroke survivors are able to meet each other at the cafe where they can order a drink and communicate with other stroke survivors and the volunteers whom offer help and advice.

“Meeting every month at the same venue allows survivors to discuss their own experiences in a social and friendly environment which helps build confidence with their speech and cognition.’’

The drop-in café opens on Monday, January 19 at Café Nero in High Street, Uxbridge, at 10.30am until 12.30pm.
