A SPRING mystery has arisen on the streets of Kilburn after two lost lambs were discovered wandering loose.

The Mayhew Animal Home's welfare officers were called out on Monday to discover a female and male lamb walking around the gardens of a property development company.

The 10-day-old lambs, which have been named Spring and Summer, were rescued and taken back to the animal home in Kensal Green to be looked after.

As the home does not have the facilities to house farm animals permanently it will be caring for sprightly creatures until they are healthy enough to be transferred to an experienced sanctuary which will find them a new home.

Claire Harper, animal welfare officer, said: “We certainly do not receive calls like this often but it was a couple of days too early for an April Fools.

“When we arrived the little lambs were cold and dehydrated and probably wouldn't have lasted much longer outside as they are less than two weeks old.

“However, they are back in out veterinary clinic now doing really well and we will be looking after them round the clock.”

The Mayhew Animal Home is one of the busiest animal sanctuaries in London and provides shelter for cats, dogs, rabbits and when the need arises, a variety of other animals.
