TALENTED young brass musicians are gearing up for a once in a lifetime performance on Sunday at the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant.

The Mayor of London’s Jubilee Band, formed specially for this weekend, is made up of youngsters from all over the capital, including five from Hammersmith and Fulham.

The band will make up one of 10 music barges to travel downriver from Battersea to Tower Bridge. They will perform A Celebration, which has been written especially for the event by Oscar-winning composer Rachel Portman.
