FOLLOWING the birth of her daughter, one Fulham mum was desperate to get creative again.

Unfamiliar with what the area had to offer her as a new mother, Alexandra Geddes decided to start blogging about her experiences, discussing everything from the best parks and crèches to the latest beauty tips.

After four days, the 27-year-old’s blog, Lashes & Little Ones, received more than 1,000 hits, giving her hope that there were others in a similar situation.

Mrs Geddes, who is expecting her second child, said: “I gave up my job to become a full-time mum, which is wonderful and obviously I love Peppa Pig but I got to the point where I wanted to communicate a bit more with grown ups.

“My husband is a social media consultant and we decided that blogging might be a good way to connect with people.

"None of my friends have had children yet, so I thought this might be a different way to introduce myself to other mums.

“I started writing about things I like, not just kids, for example my first post was about nail varnish.

“My husband told me to expect around 20 hits on the first day, but after four I received more than 1,000.”

The former management consultant, and mother to 17-month-old Ophelia, is planning to update the site daily, and hopes to set up a network of like-minded mothers giving each other useful tips and pointers.

The Epirus Road resident said: “I’ve had a lot of fun doing this and I’ve had a good response from people.

“It would be really exciting if other people started to do something similar so we could have a network for mums in Fulham.”
