Your page seven article regarding the statement of our MP that he would not accept any information from a mole in a government office is enlightening (Chronicle, December 11).

After all these years, Alan is now keen to take the high moral ground, and we are grateful.

Can we now look forward to his long-promised explanation of why he and his wife claim approximately £60,000 per annum from government funds to repay the mortgage on a very expensive flat in central London?

The eventual sale of the flat will ensure a nice nest-egg, tax free, when they lose their seats.

As your article was of national interest, may I make the following observation?

Since 1997 this government, which Alan supports, has split the nation apart purely for political gain, witness devolution, where we now have different standards of living in the four regions (sorry, this is Euro speak) of Britain.
