MPs have met to discuss concerns about the way housing association A2Dominion is run, following complaints about faulty lifts, hot water outages and other issues.

A group of four MPs met representatives from the housing provider, which manages 34,000 homes across London and the south east and is building another 4,600, last Tuesday (December 16)

Feltham and Heston MP Seema Malhotra and Brentford and Isleworth MP Mary Macleod were joined by Nick Hurd, who represents Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner, and Angie Bray, MP for Ealing Central and Acton.

getwestlondon has previously highlighted issues at the Great West Quarter (GWQ) development, in Ealing Road, Brentford, where residents have complained about lifts being out of order for months at a time, flats being left without hot water and inflated service charges.

But Ms Malhotra suggested they were not the only A2Dominion residents to have raised such concerns with the way their estates are being managed.

"I think A2Dominion has a long way to go to build proper confidence and actually see communication being more effective with MPs and with the community. Its representatives said they would look at how to achieve that," she said.

"From what the other MPs were saying, it needs to do better when it comes to delivering on its commitments. We've had a lot of negative feedback from people living within A2Dominion properties.

"The issues raised within my constituency have been about the speed of tackling neighbourhood issues and problems with the quality of the properties."

A2Dominion promised earlier this month to fix faulty lifts at Trico House, within GWQ, for good following persistent breakdowns. But a resident today said one of the lifts at the block was still out of action.

getwestlondon also understands residents of Gilbert House, on the same estate, were recently left without hot water and heating when a boiler broke down.

People living in GWQ have also complained about being charged for a warden service when they understood security was included in their service charge. They are now being consulted about whether to keep the wardens, at a cost of £65 per year per flat, or to scrap the service.

Steve Michaux, A2Dominion's director of leasehold services, said: "A2Dominion is committed to providing a good level of service to residents at Great West Quarter in Brentford, including responding to requests for repairs quickly and effectively.

"We are always working closely with residents, local partners and the site’s developer to resolve any issues that arise and improve the services we provide.

"Action has recently been taken to repair lifts at the development and resolve an issue with hot water affecting a small number of properties.

"Work is presently under way to improve the long-term reliability of the lifts, which will be completed by Monday, December 22, and we have apologised to residents for the inconvenience caused.

"We have used resident feedback to improve a warden service provided at the estate and also reduce its costs.

"We would like to reassure residents that we will continue to work to deliver a good level of service at Great West Quarter."
