VOLUNTEERS who work with vulnerable families were praised for their efforts by MP Steve Pound during an award presentation.

He was handing over certificates to 20 volunteers who have completed their training with Home-Start Ealing at Jubilee Hall, Green Man Lane, West Ealing on Wednesday last week.

Mr Pound, Home-Start's patron, said: "The miracle of Home-Start is that it presents really added value by harnessing the energy of volunteers. In many cases, they are the saviours of families as they do more than the statutory agencies."

Louise Chamberlain, scheme manager, said: "We are so pleased to have so many new excellent volunteers. Without them, we would never be able to reach so many families in Ealing."

Home-Start Ealing supports families with young children, with at least one child under the age of five. Volunteers are matched with a family to whom they offer practical and emotional support.

They support families for a wide range of reasons including multiple births, isolation, depression and special needs. * If you are interested in volunteering for Home-Start please call 020 8842 1617.
