NICK Hurd marked Hospice Care Week by serving tea and cake to patients at Michael Sobell House.

The MP for Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner chatted with volunteers, staff and the people they look after during the event on Friday.

As part of the week, which celebrates the range of ways hospices serve communities, patients and supporters were asked to write down their thoughts about services offered by the unit, in Rickmansworth Road, Northwood.

Melanie Burfitt, from MSH, said: “Many people have pre-conceived perceptions of what a hospice is like – they may think of hospices as sad and sometimes depressing places, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. During the week we’d like to dispel some of those myths by finding out what hospice care really means to people.”
