YOUR article 'Ann did so much' (Chronicle, March 5) highlights the help given to disabled war veteran Christopher Hague by the Labour MP for Brentford and Isleworth.

This confirms what I have heard through my various contacts: namely, that most of Mrs Keen's constituents

are happy to have her as their hard-working, local MP.

Not only does she keep in touch through regular parliamentary reports but she has shown herself to be a real fighter. In fact, when she took over the Labour nomination for the seat in 1985, it had never been Labour before.

Mrs Keen's first two attempts to win Brentford and Isleworth (in 1987 and 1992) were unsuccessful. However, she persevered until she finally broke through.

People say she would never accept an easier seat. What a contrasts this is to her Chelsea-based Tory opponent, who changes her constituency as often as she changes a pair of shoes.
