A MOTORCYCLIST came off his bike and injured his leg when he was in collision with a car in Harrow town centre.

The man, riding a black Honda motorbike with L-plates, was in collision with the black Volkswagen hatchback driven by a woman at the junction of Gayton Road and Sheepcote Road at about 4.50pm on Wednesday last week.

Police closed the road to allow the biker to be treated and the debris cleared.

Witness Colin Hughes, of Petherton Court, Gayton Road, said: “I was coming out of my flat and I just missed it, although I heard the crash and then I heard a woman screaming.

“The lady driver was coming from Sheepcote Road, turning right into Gayton Road and the motorcyclist was coming up Sheepcote Road from the Northwick Park Roundabout.

“They collided and he was thrown on to the other side of the road.”

A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Our staff treated one patient, a man reported to be in his 20s, for a leg injury and he was taken to Northwick Park Hospital.”

When the Observer went to press the motorcyclist was still in hospital, but his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
