A MOTORCYCLIST has died following a road accident near Heathrow last night (Thursday).

The 34-year-old man, riding a black Suzuki motorbike, was involved in an collision with a white VW pick-up truck in Bath Road, Hayes, close to the junction with Noble Drive, just after 9pm.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His next of kin have been told, but the man has not yet been formally identified.

The 35-year-old man driving the truck, who was taken to to hospital suffering minor injuries, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, causing death whilst under the influence of alcohol and having no licence.

Police now want witnesses to the accident to come forward.

Sergeant Jane Mallett, of the Road Death Investigation Unit based at Northolt, said: "This is a major arterial route very close to Heathrow Airport and I would urge those who witnessed the collision, or saw the motorcycle or pickup truck prior to the collision, to come forward and help us piece together the events that culminated in the death of this man."
