A MAN is in a critical condition in hospital after a crash on the M4 in Brentford.

The motorcyclist was rushed to a central London hospital on Tuesday after a collision on the westbound elevated section of the motorway at about 8.40pm.

The 53-year-old from Hampstead remains in a critical condition after suffering life-threatening injuries.

Traffic police have appealed for witnesses to the crash, in which no other vehicles are believed to have been involved.

DS Harry Wilkinson, who is leading the investigation, said: "I am grateful for a number of people who stopped at the scene to assist the emergency services that night.

"This stretch of motorway was fairly busy at that time and I would urge anyone who may have seen the motorcyclist in the moments leading up to the collision, or the collision itself, to contact police."

Anyone with information is asked to call the Road Death Investigation Unit at Hampton Traffic Garage's witness appeal line on 020 8941 9011.
