PARAMEDICS were unable to save a motorcyclist who was having a heart attack after colliding with a bus in Harrow.

At just after 10.15pm yesterday his machine collided with a northbound 182 Metroline-run bus in Railway Approach outside Wealdstone Social Club.

Whether the victim, who was in his 30s but whose name remains undisclosed at present, suffered the cardiac arrest before or after the two vehicles struck one another will be at the heart of the investigation being led by Sergeant Stephen Pidgeon of the Metropolitan Police's Alperton-based road death investigation unit.

A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We sent an ambulance crew, a single responder in a car, a duty officer and the air ambulance doctor in a car,

"Out staff treated one patient patient in cardiac arrest. Despite efforts to resuscitate him, the man was pronounced dead at the scene."

The area was cordoned off by police and buses diverted.

A Transport for London spokesman said: At around 10.15pm on Monday, a route 182 double deck bus, operated by Metroline, was involved in a fatal collision with a motorcyclist on Railway Approach in Harrow.  Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.

Emergency services attended the scene. There will be a full investigation into the incident.
