FOUR more parks in Hillingdon have been awarded prestigious Green Flag awards, bringing the borough's total number to 14.

The parks which have this week been granted the monumental status are Little Britain Lake, in Packet Boat Lane, Cowley, Minet Country Park, in Hayes, Cowley Recreation Ground, and Warrender Park, Ruislip.

All parks entered for Green Flag status are judged on how welcoming, safe and well maintained they are and must have a strong involvement from the community.

Councillor Sandra Jenkins, cabinet member for environment, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have won four new Green Flags.

“Achieving the status reflects the hard work that goes into making these parks places for all to enjoy.

“I would like to congratulate everyone who has contributed to this success.”

The 10 parks which retained their Green Flag status this year are Lake Farm Country Park, Norman Leddy Memorial Gardens, Harefield Village Green, Ruislip Woods, Fassnidge Park, Little Harlington Playing Fields, Barra Hall Park, Churchfield Gardens, Uxbridge Common, and Cranford Country Park.

The borough is second in London only to Westminster for its number of Green Flag parks.
