The annual Moor Park 10k race has raised a whopping £40,000 so far, with more expected.

Supporting the Lynda Jackson Macmillan Centre at Mount Vernon Hospital in Rickmansworth Road, Northwood, the run, through the grounds of Merchant Taylor’s School nearby, was won in 35 minutes and 34 seconds by last year’s winner, Nigel Rackham of Pinner.

Helen Mussen took the womens’ title in 42m 33s.

A new Under-7s race proved a success and will be continued next year, said Buzz Coster, the centre’s marketing manager.

“Every penny raised by this event will go to the Lynda Jackson Macmillan Centre to support people affected by cancer,” he said.

“On behalf of the patients whom we support: ‘thank you’.”

The date of next year’s event is yet to be confirmed but people can sign up to receive details at www.moorpark10k.org.uk
