THE organisers of the Ealing Half Marathon have welcomed Mercedes-Benz Brentford on board as an official sponsor for the race, which takes place on Sunday, September 29.
Kelvin Walker, race director, and Sandra Courtney, event coordinator, picked up an Ealing Half Marathon branded A180 CDI AGM Sport at the Mercedes-Benz dealership in Brentford on Wednesday last week.
Sandra Courtney said: “It’s great to get so much support from the businesses in our community and having Mercedes-Benz Brentford as an official sponsor takes the race to the next level. We look forward to driving our Ealing Half Marathon branded Mercedes around London and beyond to further promote the race, raise people’s awareness and recruit new runners.”
Trevor Webb, general manager at Mercedes-Benz Brentford, handed over the keys to the new car and voiced his support for the Ealing Half Marathon.
Mercedes-Benz Brentford will have 25 runners at this year’s race and are raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Many of the employees were involved in running the race in 2012 and are hoping to improve their personal best times this year. The Ealing Half Marathon team will be helping with coaching tips for the runners from now until race day.
The Ealing Half Marathon, which is supported by the Gazette, will start and finish in Lammas Par. The 13.1 miles will be run in a single lap, taking in parts of Central Ealing, Montpelier, Pitshanger, West Ealing, Hanwell and St Stephens before returning to Lammas Park.
Runners are guaranteed to get the ‘Ealing feeling’ with the local communities reflecting Ealing’s great spirit and showing strong support for the race, which was introduced in the Olympic year in order to bring a fantastic mass participation sporting event to the borough that would be a legacy of the Games.
Registration for the Ealing Half Marathon 2013 is open with entry fees of £32 for affiliated runners and £34 for unaffiliated runners, including a medal.
