A MEMORIAL service has taken place for a former ward councillor and member of the Burma Star Association .

Jack Carsons, of Brandville Road, West Drayton, died on March 18, aged 85. A service was held on April 1, commemorating his life.

It was conducted by the Reverend Richard Young of St Matthew's Church, Yiewsley, at Breakspear Crematorium, in Breakspear Road, Ruislip.

The service was attended by friends and branch members of the Burma Star Association and West London Royal Signals Association.

Mr Carsons, who served as a Conservative ward councillor for West Drayton for 12 years, will be remembered for his attendances at Remembrance Day, Battle of Britain and Anzac wreath-laying ceremonies.

While running his own planning consultancy, he combined governorship of Bishopshalt School with contributions to the Old Uxonians' Association , town twinning and local cadet units.

Friends paid tribute to him, saying whatever he undertook was with full determination and dedication.
