MEADOW House hospice is joining in harmony with people in over 80 countries by holding a musical event to raise funds and awareness of the work it does.

The event at the hospice in the grounds of Ealing Hospital, Uxbridge Road, Southall will be held on October 8 to mark World Hospice and Palliative Care Day 2011, with Voices for Hospices. Thousands of people across the globe will be joining forces at more than 1,000 events to celebrate, support and speak up about hospice and palliative care.

Meadow House will be holding a lively event with contemporary music from Cole Porter to ABBA and hope to get people dancing too. Jacqueline Grove, Clinical Services Manager, said: "This will be a lovely event but it's not just about raising money. It will be nice to invite people in to see the fruits of what people have already helped to raise money for such as our new conservatory and our wards which we are currently refurbishing. It's very important for them to hear about the services we are offering so this is also about sharing information."

She said they were also planning to launch a hospice lottery for Christmas to encourage people to think about donating on a regular basis. Tickets for the music evening on October 7 at 7.30pm are £10 which includes a light buffet and drinks. You can buy them on the door or get them in advance from Lynne May 0208 967 5040.

For the Lottery for Christmas the hospice is looking for people to set up a direct debit or standing order for three months to a year at £1 per ticket per week with a monthly drawer of up to £750 for the winner. Register your interest by emailing meadowhouse@nhs.net and title it ‘lottery’ or leave your name and telephone number on 02089675342 and you will be contacted nearer the time.
