The school in Middle Row, north Kensington, is part of the ARK Schools network, one of the UK’s leading academy chains.
Pictured carrying out the official ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 1 are the Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Councillor Charles Williams and Mayoress June Williams, Dominic Smith, Headteacher, and pupils from ARK Brunel Primary Academy.
Dominic Smith, Headteacher, said: “ARK Brunel Primary Academy is a vibrant and happy school and we are committed to giving our pupils the very best start in life and encourage them to 'choose brilliance’. We are delighted with our brand new state-of-the-art building that will provide children from north Kensington and neighbouring areas with a learning environment they richly deserve for generations to come. We are very grateful for the support of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.”
Ann-Marie Stockwell, a parent who attended the new building opening today, said: “My son attends ARK Brunel nursery and my older children attend ARK’s Burlington Danes Academy. I’m excited for the teachers and children at ARK Brunel now they are in their brilliant new building. ARK has excellent values and I’m confident my son is going to progress extremely well through the years at ARK Brunel.”
The building, designed by Penoyre & Prasad and built by BAM Construction, features two roof terraces for outdoor learning and dedicated art & design and ICT rooms. The finishing touches are being made to the school with the key stage 2 playground due to be ready for the new academic year.
