Toe-tapping music filled the air at Chiswick House and Gardens as Mayor of Hounslow Nisar Malik joined country dancers on the grassy lawns.

The programme - called Reels, Jigs and Strathspeys - celebrated the end of term for members and friends of Chiswick Scottish Dance club.

Councillor Malik was on his feet for the first dance at The London Borough of Hounslow to mark 50 years since the formation of the borough.

Mr Malik said: "I have very much enjoyed coming to your Chiswick Scottish dance at one of the finest gardens in the borough of Hounslow.

"The dancing is not too intensive, its good exercise but also good fun and everyone can join in.

"Thank you for all your work and for inviting me."

The annual Midsummer Magic picnic dance was held on Sunday (June 21).

Club chairman Michael Nolan added: “It’s always a wonderful event for everyone, and a great end to our dancing season – it’s a lovely venue and a highlight of our dancing year.

"We are grateful that the Mayor has been able to meet and chat with our members but also to join in so confidently with Hounslow’s very own Scottish Dance.”

The dancers will be performing at Super Saturday on July 11 at 11am in Christ Church on Turnham Green. New term starts on September 20 at St Michael & All Angels Church Hall, Bath Road, Chiswick.
